Imagine this: you’re walking through Dubai Mall. At the entrance, a giant “apple” is greeting shoppers. Inside, a “book” is dancing on a display stand. Near the fountain, a “teacher” is sipping tea.
Sounds like a dream? That’s the idea behind a memory palace—a fun, imaginative way to remember vocabulary by placing words in mental pictures and familiar places.
For beginners who want to learn to speak English, this method is helpful as well as enjoyable. Let’s explore how you can build your own memory palace and take your English learning to the next level.
A memory palace is a tool that uses places you already know—like your home, school, or a favourite street in Dubai—and fills them with vivid images to help you remember words. You’re not just memorising; you’re creating a journey in your mind where every room or corner holds a new word.
Our brains love images and locations. When you picture a “pillow” jumping on your bed, it sticks better than reading the word ‘pillow’ 10 times.
You’ll laugh at your silly pictures—and when learning is fun, it’s more effective.
